City Band Finale for 2012 Set Aug. 22

OSWEGO, NY – On Aug. 22 at 7 p.m. in Breitbeck Park the Oswego City Band, directed by Donald Goodness, will present its final concert of the 2012 Summer Sunset Concert Series.

The featured Soloist will be Joe Henneberry playing “Portrait of a Trumpet” by Sammy Nestico.

This concert designed to continue our summer of fan favorites with a little something for everyone, has a large variety of familiar and not so familiar pieces.

On the program are two marches by Syracuse area composer Victor Malia.

They are “El Castillo Real” and “The Lafayette Squadron.”

Other selections will include: “The Green Domino” by Clare Grundman and “Lara’s Theme” from Dr. Zhivago, “The Liberty Loan March” by John Phillip Sousa, selections from “The Man of La Mancha,” “German Dance” by Beethoven, “Thank God I’m a Country Boy” made famous by the late John Denver, and a sing-a-long medley titled “Themes Like Old Times II.”

The concerts are free and open to the public who are invited to bring their lawn chair or blanket.

These summer concerts are sponsored by the city of Oswego.
