Oswego High Hosts Snowflake Spectacular Winter Guard Show Saturday


OSWEGO, NY – It has been several years since the Oswego High School Winter Guard has hosted a Mid-York Color Guard circuit show.

However, this Saturday, February 18, beginning at 5 p.m. the color and excitement of winter guard will fill the Powers Gymnasium at Frederick Leighton Elementary School.

There will be 14 guards in competition as the Oswego High School Visual Ensemble presents “Snowflake Spectacular.”

Oswego High School music teacher Scott Ciesla said, “The winter guard captured first place in Mexico and finished fourth of out seven this past weekend at Liverpool. This is the first year we have competed in a higher class and thus far have been very competitive. People are in for a great show this weekend.”

The Oswego Visual Ensemble will present “the Chain” featuring the music of Fleetwood Mac at 6:38 p.m.

The program starts at 5 p.m. and the guards in order of appearance include Tapestry, Mirror Image, Lakeside ERA, Northstars SRA, Cortland, Central Square JV, Reflections and Illusions with an intermission to follow that portion of the program.

The second half of the show begins at 6:30 p.m. with Altmar-Parish-Williamstown followed by Oswego, Lakeside, Northstars IA, Central Square and Northstars SO.

This year’s roster for the Oswego High Visual Ensemble includes Khadijah Malone, Morgan Hanley,  Jennifer Kelley, Ashleigh Thompson, Kyrstin Blackburn, Gina Bartholomew, Cassidy Jones, Deanna Santiago, Danielle Gilbert, Brittany Reed, Stephanie Cusyck, Sarah Reynolds, Katie Bradshaw, Cayla Knopp, Liz Westcott, Miranda Arneson, Cassandra Hondro, Carly Hewitt, Betsy O’Gorman, Annie Reynolds and Kylie Pelkey.

Tickets  will be available at the door for $5 for adults, $3 for seniors and children under 12. The show starts at 5 p.m. with the doors openings at 4:30 p.m.
