Corradino’s No Hitter Powers Oswego To Softball Win

Lauren Corradino

Sophomore Lauren Corradino pitched her first varsity no-hitter, and Marissa Canale drilled a three-run double in the first inning as the Oswego varsity softball team beat visiting Baldwinsville 3-0 on Tuesday.

Corradino was nearly perfect on the mound. The only Baldwinsville baserunner was Jill Conicella, who walked on a 3-2 pitch in the fourth inning.

Working well with senior catcher Emily Oleyourryk, Corradino spotted her pitches well and mixed in an occasional change-up to keep the Bees off balance. She finished with 10 strikeouts.

There were no close calls, as far as hits were concerned. Oswego third baseman Mandy Ranous, who had three assists, made a nice stab of a sharply hit one-hopper off the bat of Conicella in the seventh.

Corradino struck out the final two batters to complete her gem.

Offensively, the Bucs did it all in the first inning. With one out, singles by Sara Molinari, Oleyourryk, and Corradino loaded the bases. Canale then lined one to the left-center gap, plating all three runners.

The only other Buccaneer hits were a pair of singles by the hot-hitting Oleyourryk.

Baldwinsville’s Anna Hammill blanked Oswego after the first inning. She went the distance, allowing six hits and one walk while striking out five.

Oswego improved to 14-7 overall. The Bees dropped to 6-10. missing or outdated ad config
