Oswego Kartway Racers Shine on NYDKS State Series Tour in 2014

OSWEGO, NY – With the recent announcement of Oswego Kartway and the New York Dirt Kart Series teaming up for a stretch of qualifying events in 2015, Kartway fans should take note of several Kartway regulars earning post season honors at the annual NYDKS banquet commending their 2014 accomplishments.

The NYDKS series spanned across New York State in 2014 with trips to Allegany Memorial Speedway in Wellsville, Can-Am Speedway in Lafargeville, Starlite Speedway in Trumansburg, and Caroga Creek Speedway in St. Johnsville.

At the conclusion of the four race series, five Kartway members earned top ten point positions, including one state series champion.

Kartway regular Tyler Trump, a 14-year-old veteran of the “Bull Ring,” earned a state series championship with the NYDKS this season in Junior Clone.

Trump earned the title by 6 points over Jeffrey Chapman with two victories coming at Can-Am Speedway and Caroga Creek Speedway.

Trump also had two main event wins at the Kartway in 2014 driving in Sr. Blue Clone before advancing to race with the adults in Clone Light at year end.

Former Kartway track champion DJ Shuman competed on the NYDKS tour in 2014, racing to third in the Clone Super Heavy standings behind champion Jason Moll and Brian Knox.

Shuman kick started the state tour with a victory at AMS.

Kartway member Zach Mooney, the champion of this year’s Oswego Kartway Classic in Stock Light, earned a third place finish in the 350 Flathead standings on the state tour this season.

Teenage Kartway standouts Nate Schultzkie and Alex McRae each contended in Clone Light in 2014, finishing 6th and 8th in the final series tally, respectively.

The Schultzkies would go on to collect the NYDKS Appreciation Award in 2014, while McRae earned the Sportsmanship Award for Clone Light.
