Oswego State Women’s Ice Hockey Team Falls In Exhibition

OSWEGO, NY – The Oswego State women’s ice hockey team fell 4-2 to the Barrie Jr. Sharks in an exhibition game played at the Marano Campus Center Arena on Saturday afternoon (Oct. 24).

The Lakers enter this year coming off of a season where they went 19-7-1, setting the program record for victories in a season.

After allowing a goal late in the first period, the Lakers were facing a 1-0 score going into the intermission.

Brianna Rice was able to tie it up though, taking a clapper off a Lizzy Marks-won faceoff that crossed the line just as the buzzer for the period sounded.

The two teams remained even through the second but the Jr. Sharks were able to break the tie 1:28 into the final period.

They then tacked on two more to give push the lead to 4-1 with 6:40 left in regulation.

The Lakers attempted a comeback as Kendall Appelbaum tipped a Brianna McFall shot passed the Barrie goalie cutting the lead to two, but were unable to finish the late drive.

Tori Trovato played the first twenty minutes between the pipes for Oswego, racking up 12 saves.

Mariah Madrigal took her place in the second, recording 10 saves and Mikaela Ditonto played the final period, stopping seven pucks.
