Oswego State junior men’s basketball forward Chad Burridge has been named to the D3Hoops.com All-East Region First Team as voted on by a group of Sports Information Directors in the region. Burridge is the first player in program history to be recognized as a first-team selection and will now be eligible for the D3Hoops.com All-America Team, which will be announced late Saturday.
Burridge, a two-time captain, turned in one of the best season’s seen in Laker men’s basketball program history during the 2010-11 year. He averaged 18.5 points and 6.6 rebounds per game to help lead the Lakers to the program’s second best overall record at 24-5, the No. 1 NCAA East Regional Ranking all year, and the program’s first NCAA Division III Men’s Basketball Tournament berth in its 88-year history as they advanced to the Second Round.
Burridge finished the banner year scoring 537 points, which ranks as the sixth-highest single-season total in school history, and grabbed 192 rebounds. He was named the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Player of the Year after Oswego State posted a program-best conference record of 17-1 and its’ first-ever No. 1 seed in the SUNYAC Tournament.
Burridge has already made his mark on the Oswego State men’s basketball record books as he ranks ninth on the career scoring list at 1,361 points, averaging 16.6 points per game. His 661 career rebounds rank eighth all-time, while he less than 30 blocks away from becoming the program’s all-time leader in blocks next season as he is currently second with 189.
