Oswego YMCA Boot Camp Starts June 2


OSWEGO, NY – The Oswego YMCA’s Boot Camp Fitness classes will start June 2.

Morning classes meet every Tuesday and Thursday at 7 a.m. or 9 a.m. at the Brietbeck Park pavilion.

From circuit-style routines that jump-start cardio fitness, to creative strength exercises using a variety of tools including the participant’s body weight, each class brings its own unique challenges.

This is the eighth year of this fun and innovative class that provides participants the opportunity to be part of a group committed to making a positive change.

Each five-week session offers group training that is designed with variety to keep things challenging.

Each 50-minute workout meets in Breitbeck Park, rain or shine and begins with a dynamic warm-up followed by a full body workout with activities utilizing specific muscle groups targeting cardiovascular endurance and speed, testing agility and building core strength.

The class offers creative forms of exercise complete with the use of benches, fences, stairs, hills, battling ropes, suspension trainers, kettle bells, balls, bands, sleds, body weight and more.

High energy relays, heart pumping cardio drills, obstacles, circuits and plyometric work is used to help reduce body fat and increase speed, agility and stamina.

It is a program is designed to encourage personal improvement and advancement in a dynamic outdoor group class.

This is the first of several five-week sessions being offered this year.

“It is intense, challenging and fun, and will test participants’ physical strength and endurance,” said Trish Levine, Oswego YMCA Director of Health and Wellness. “The program is designed for people of all fitness levels. As participants work toward their goals, they will notice increases in energy, strength and stamina and decreases in body fat and inches.”

Interested participants are encouraged to register soon as classes fill quickly.

The Oswego YMCA’s Boot Camp Fitness is aimed at helping individuals to complete daily activities and active pursuits with more energy, less fatigue and less chance of injury.

Participants will see their metabolism increase, and paired with proper nutrition, can lose weight and improve overall strength and definition.

With more than 1,600 members, one in nine people living in the Oswego community is a member of Oswego YMCA.

Daily, members find the support and services they need to improve their quality of life.
