OSWEGO COUNTY – The Oswego County Health Department invites interested residents to join its upcoming “Living Well” workshop series where they can discuss health issues with trained professionals in a supportive, welcoming group-setting. All sessions are free and cover a variety of health management strategies.
These Living Well workshops are open this spring:
- “Living Well with Diabetes: Pathways to Control Your Blood Sugar” meets from 9:30 a.m. to noon every Thursday, April 16 through May 21, at the Mexico Public Library, 3269 Main St., Mexico.
- “Stepping On Fall Prevention” meets from 1 to 3 p.m. every Wednesday, April 22 to June 3 at the Hannibal Free Library, 162 Oswego St., Hannibal.
“Living Well with Diabetes” helps adults with Type 2 diabetes and their caregivers learn practical skills to better manage their condition. Topics include healthy eating, physical activity, medication use, glucose monitoring and working with health care providers. Participants will receive a free book about living with chronic conditions.
“Stepping On Fall Prevention” is an evidence-based program designed to help people reduce their risk of falls while improving strength, balance and confidence. The program is intended for adults who live independently and have experienced a fall or are concerned about falling.
