OCO Announces New Additions to Medical Staff

Oswego County Opportunities recently welcomed Terry Salmonsen, N.P., Yasmin Sahul, M.D., and Bei Zheng, M.D. to the medical staff at OCO’s Fulton Health Center. OCO operates Health Centers in Fulton and Oswego that provide a wide array of healthcare services including family planning and reproductive health services.

Director of OCO’s Health Services Division, Ellen Holst has announced that Terry Salmonsen, N.P., Bei Zheng, M.D., and Yasmin Sahul, M.D. have joined the medical staff at OCO’s Fulton Health Center.  The talented trio is a welcome addition to the busy health center that provides a wide array of healthcare services including: family practice, pediatrics, adult medicine, women’s health and education.

Salmonsen, who received his Family Nurse Practitioner degree from SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, brings with him a extensive experience having worked in various hospital emergency departments and intensive care units as well as at long term care facilities.

Sahul comes to OCO from Flint, Michigan where she maintained a solo practice in family medicine.  A graduate of the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine in Lansing, Michigan, Sahul has been involved with extensive surgical research studies at MSU’s department of internal medicine and the Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit.

Zheng, a graduate of Shanxi Medical University in Taiyuan, China recently concluded her residency in family medicine at St. Joseph’s Health Center in Syracuse.  She previously served residency in general surgery at Staten Island University Hospital and chief resident in Otolaryngology at Shanxi Medical University Teaching Hospital in China.

With health centers in Fulton and Oswego, OCO plays a major role as a healthcare provider for those who live in Oswego County. “Our health centers are staffed with medical professionals who provide our patients with a high quality of care.  They truly care about the population they serve.  I am happy to welcome Bei, Yasmin and Terry to our medical staff and am confident that our patients will pleased with the care they provide,” said Holst.

While OCO’s Health Centers offer a full range of healthcare services for the whole family, including women’s reproductive health issues.   In that area OCO’s Health Centers offers the following women’s health services:

-         STD Testing

-         Breast Exams

-         Colposcopies

-         HIV Testing

-         Birth Control Methods

-         Pregnancy testing & Options counseling

-         Infertility screening and counseling

In addition to these services OCO’s Fulton Health Center also offers specialty services such as colposcopies, which test for cervical cancer, and endometrial biopsies, which test for uterine cancer.

OCO, Inc. Health Centers participate with most commercial health insurances, making the services offered at the Health Centers available to all those looking for quality health care from skilled, medical professionals.  Some services are offered at a sliding fee scale, making them affordable to most individuals.  In addition, OCO’s Facilitated Enrollment program can help families and individuals apply to receive the medical insurance they need and OCO’s Family Planning Benefits Program allows eligible enrollees to receive 100% coverage for women’s health services.
