OSWEGO, NY — Members of the Stone Creek Golf Club Tuesday Night Women’s League recently held a tournament to benefit Oswego County Opportunities’ (OCO) Cancer Services Program of the North Country. Coordinated by Tina Bourgeois, the tournament raised $1,611 in support of the program’s fight against breast cancer in Oswego, Jefferson, Lewis and St Lawrence Counties.

Carolyn Handville, Manager of OCO’s Cancer Services Program, thanked all who supported their activities. “We appreciate the thoughtfulness and generosity of Tina, the members of the Tuesday night Ladies League and the men that joined them for participating in the tournament, BPOE Oswego Elks Lodge #271 for its generous donation of $500.00, and a special thank you to Stone Creek Golf Club Owner Will Weimer for his ongoing support and generosity.”

“By working together, we can continue raising awareness about the importance of annual breast cancer screenings. Early detection saves lives, and strong community partnerships are vital to reaching more residents,” Handville said.

Administered by OCO, the Cancer Services Program of the North Country provides free cancer screenings including clinical breast exams, mammograms, colorectal cancer screenings, and pap/pelvic exams, to qualifying community members who are uninsured and between 40 and 64 years of age.  For more information on the Cancer Services Program Partnership of the North Country call 855-592-0830 or visit OCO’s website at www.oco.org and follow them on Facebook at www.facebook.com/oco.free.cancer.screenings.

Each year, nearly 25,000 people are served through more than 50 programs including assistance for the homeless, educational services, safety for the abused, support for youth, crisis services, transportation for all health education services, meals and nutritional guidance for the elderly, disabled and youth, and independence and support for the disabled.
