The annual Wellness Day Fair at Pulaski Middle/Senior High School will take place on Wednesday, October 22nd at the school’s gymnasium, according to Pulaski Health Center Executive Director Daniel T. Dey.

Pulaski Health Center is coordinating the event with the Pulaski Academy and Central School District (PACS) Character Education Committee, and senior student volunteers.

“We take pride in our school based health center partnership with PACS,” said Celeste Carnes, the school-based health center nurse practitioner at Pulaski Middle/Senior High School. “And, our collaboration on this annual Wellness Day Fair is a wonderful initiative that provides an informative day of health/wellness awareness programs to our region’s students.”

The fair is part of a variety of activities planned for Red Ribbon Week. Red Ribbon Week is the oldest and largest drug prevention campaign in the country. The week serves as a vehicle for communities and individuals to take a stand for the hopes  and dreams of children through a commitment to drug prevention and education.

According to Dey, the annual Wellness Day Fair will also include the following agencies for students to ask questions and/or learn more about wellness services:

•    Oswego County Opportunities
•    Cornell Cooperative Extension of Oswego County
•    Tobacco Free Network of Oswego County
•    Harbor Lights
•    Railroad Safety
•    Stay on Track
•    Pemberton Physical Therapy and more…

“We’re very enthusiastic about our event exhibitors once again this year,” said Kelly Stevens, School Based Health Center Coordinator at Pulaski Health Center. “The students truly get a lot out of the discussions they have with these health professionals and the benefits are obvious and significant.”
