OSWEGO, NY – January 15, 2024, Osama E. A. Essa, MD, Board Certified, General Surgeon, joins Oswego Health to provide care at the Center for Surgical Services. Dr. Essa is now part of the 100+ physicians and advanced practice providers employed by Oswego Health and the 270 providers on the Medical Staff representing multiple specialty services across the community.
Dr. Essa’s professional interests include minimally invasive surgery, bowel surgery, hernia repair, gallbladder surgery, appendix surgery, and thyroid gland surgery.
Before joining Oswego Health, Dr. Essa practiced at Nathan Littauer Hospital in Gloversville, NY, and UPMC Cole in Coudersport, PA.
Dr. Essa earned his medical degree from Garyounis University in Benghazi Libya in 2002 and completed his training in general surgery in 2007. That same year he became a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. In 2015, Dr. Essa finished his General Surgery Residency at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio.
Dr. Essa will provide high-quality care alongside Lisa Lai, MD, Duane F. Tull, MD, MBA, FACS, Ryan Walker, MD, and Ruth N Vasquez, MSN, FNP, whose office is located in Suite 100 of the Seneca Hill Health Services Center in Oswego.
