Pulmonologist Renate Mandanas, MD will be guest speaker at Oswego Health Smoking Cessation Support Group

Renato Mandanas, M.D., will be the guest speaker at Oswego Health’s November 14th smoking cessation support group to be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in Oswego Hospital’s cafeteria.

Dr. Mandanas is a pulmonologist and hospitalist at Oswego Hospital, where he also serves as a vice president for medical affairs. At the support group meeting, Dr. Mandanas will discuss the immediate and long-term benefits to those that quit smoking.

As part of his medical training, Dr. Mandanas completed a two-year pulmonary fellowship at Wayne State University. He earned his medical degree from the University of the Philippines, College of Medicine. He has recently returned from the annual convention held by the American College of Chest Physicians.

Oswego Health offers two monthly free smoking cessation classes and a support group that are lead by a certified smoking cessation instructor. While a single class offers all the help needed to quit smoking, community members are welcome to attend as many of the monthly sessions as they wish.

A smoking cessation class is offered the first Wednesday of each month from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at The Manor at Seneca Hill and also the second Monday of each month from 2 to 4 p.m. in Oswego Hospital’s cafeteria conference room. The support group is held the second Monday of each month from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the hospital’s cafeteria conference room.
