MEXICO, NY – State Senator Patty Ritchie will host a “Drive-Thru Drug Take Back” event on Thursday, November 18 in Mexico in an effort to help people clean out their medicine cabinets, protect the environment and improve community safety.

The event, which is being made possible with assistance from the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office, will take place at the Mexico VFW (5930 Scenic Avenue/NYS Route 3) from noon to 2 p.m.

“Properly disposing of unused prescription medications is one of the easiest ways you can help stop misuse, as well as protect the environment,” said Senator Patty Ritchie. “In recent weeks, hundreds of people throughout the region I represent have taken part in my ‘Drive-Thru Drug Take Back’ events and I’m hopeful people in the Mexico area will take advantage of this opportunity to responsibly clean out their medicine cabinets.”

At the event, any unused or expired medications will be accepted, with the exception of needles, and syringes. Those who cannot attend can visit www.ritchie.nysenate.gov for information on where prescription drugs can safely be disposed of.
