ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Oswego State men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams suffered losses to RIT on Wednesday in the first dual meet of the season for both teams. The Laker women fell 150-83, while the Laker men lost 147-90.
Tracey Hagan (Fr., Burnt Hills, N.Y.), Katie Flood (Jr., Hastings-on-Hudson, N.Y.), Sabia Filiaci (So., Schenectady, N.Y.), and Emily Doe (Fr., Dansville, N.Y.) won the 200 medley relay by nearly four seconds with a time of 1:56.86. Doe later finished second in the 50 freestyle (25.81) and the 100 freestyle (57.36), while Filiaci and Hagan were runner-ups in the 100 fly (1:04.77) and 100 backstroke (1:06.66), respectively. Flood and Hagan also went 1-2 in the 100 breaststroke with times of 1:14.65 and 1:16.21.
Tom Schmid (Jr., Liverpool, N.Y.) took first in the 1000 freestyle with a result of 11:02.57, turned in a second-place showing in the 500 freestyle (5:17.62), and ended the meet second in the 100 breaststroke (1:10.59).
Andrew Minnick (Jr., Latham, N.Y.) out-touched the competition in the 200 freestyle after posting a time of 1:50.69, while Niklas Hesse (Fr., Stony Brook, N.Y.) was first in the 100 breaststroke with a mark of 1:05.58. Austin Nau (Fr., Rochester, N.Y.) placed second in the 50 and 100 freestyle with times of 22.35 and 50.52 seconds, respectively.
The Lakers closed out the meet by winning the women’s 200 freestyle relay in 1:49.20 and the men’s 200 freestyle relay in 1:33.16. Members of the women’s relay included Emily Plummer (Sr., Horseheads, N.Y.), Filiaci, Ashley Rode (Jr., Hilton, N .Y.), and Erin Murtha (So., Owego, N.Y.), while the men’s relay was comprised of Minnick, Ben Palais (So., Rye, N.Y.), Zach Gerber (Fr., Oswego, N.Y.), and Matt Pamlanye (Jr., Holbrook, N.Y.).
Oswego State returns to competition on November 3 when it travels to Clarkson for a 1 p.m. meet.
