“Generous donations such as these are essential to the continued success of our program,” said Handville. “This donation from the Richard S. Shineman Foundation gives hope to those served by OCO’s Cancer Services Program and helps to provide support in many ways; one of which is offering free yoga classes to those diagnosed with any form of cancer as we focus on overall wellness for cancer survivors. We also expanded our outreach, education and screenings for the early detection of cervical cancer throughout January, which was Cervical Cancer Awareness Month. We hosted screening days throughout Oswego County where we offered free pap/pelvic exams along with services such as transportation and/or daycare services for woman. Early detection saves lives and we cannot thank the Richard S. Shineman Foundation enough for its honorable donation that touched the lives of hundreds of community members.”
