New York’s leading small business association, the National Federation of Independent Business, has endorsed Assemblyman Will Barclay for re-election in the 124th Assembly district.

“As an Assemblyman, Will Barclay has been a steadfast ally and solid vote for small business,” said NFIB/New York State Director Mike Elmendorf.  “Assemblyman Barclay will continue to fight to cut taxes, rein in government spending, and improve our economic competitiveness.  He will oppose job-killing mandates and stand up for entrepreneurs and free-enterprise.  Assemblyman Will Barclay is the right choice for small business.”

With rising energy prices and healthcare costs, small business owners are looking for solutions to reduce the cost of doing business in New York.

Assemblyman Will Barclay said, “I am honored to have NFIB’s endorsement.  As the premier advocacy group for small business, NFIB has fought for policies that will help small business survive and grow.  Because small businesses are the backbone of our economy, we must do all we can in New York to lower their costs of doing business.  I look forward to continuing to work with NFIB to achieve this goal.”

“Assemblyman Barclay understands that the best way to create jobs and grow our economy is to reduce the cost of doing business, particularly for small employers who account for 99 percent of all businesses in New York and are responsible for most new job creation.  Will Barclay is an experienced leader who gets results and we need him back in Albany to keep up that fight,” Elmendorf said.

Small business owners and their employees vote in high numbers and are known for actively recruiting friends, family members and acquaintances to go to the polls.

NFIB’s political support is based on the candidate’s position and record on small-business issues.  Assemblyman Barclay’s endorsement comes from the NFIB/New York SAFE (Save America’s Free Enterprise) Trust, the political action committee for NFIB/New York’s membership.  The endorsement puts the considerable grassroots support of the state’s small businesses behind the Barclay campaign.

NFIB is the nation’s leading small business association, with offices in Washington, D.C. and all 50 state capitals.
