The Lady Bucs’ softball team defeated league foe F-M 3 – 1 on Monday at the OHS softball field.
It looked like the Lady Bucs were going quietly in the first inning, but after two quick outs, Emily Oleyourryk blasted a long triple to left and came into score on an RBI single by Marissa Canale, making it 1- 0.
Oswego added a run in the 3rd inning on a heads-up baserunning play by Sara Molinari. After she singled and advanced to second on an overthrow, she headed to third on a passed ball, when a delayed obstruction call was made. When the FM defense stopped playing, Molinari scampered home with the second Oswego run.
The Lady Hornets cut the lead to 2-1 with a safety-squeeze bunt in the fourth inning.
The Bucs tacked on a late insurance run as Sarah Petrie walked and stole second ahead of an RBI triple by Molinari.
Pitcher Lauren Corradino and the Buccaneer defense got out of a bases-loaded, no out jam in the sixth. Oleyourryk hustled after a wild pitch and tossed it to Corradino to nail an FM runner at the plate, then Corradino struck out the next two FM hitters to retire the side.
Now 13-7 on the season, Oswego hosts three more CNYCL league opponents this week beginning with B’ville (Tuesday) at 5:00 pm. State-ranked (#2) CNS visits Oswego on Wednesday.
