Auer Doubles, But Bucs Fall In Pool To New Hartford

Coach Josh Lerch wasn’t unhappy with the performance of the girls’ varsity swim team as New Hartford scored a 101-74 victory over the Bucs on Tuesday.

Coach Lerch said, “Despite the score we actually had a fantastic meet. Most of the girls stepped up to a very good New Hartford team and made them swim hard to earn their victory.”

Sophomore Michaela Auer was the most successful Lady Buc, finishing first in both the 50 yard freestyle (26.53) and the 100 yard breaststroke (1:12.79).

Oswego also placed first in the 400 free relay (4:10.70) with the quartet of Katie Metcalf, Iveliz Lopez, Kaila McClelland, and Maureen Donovan.

Lerch said, “I’d say about 90% of the team swam their best time this season in each event. Some, like senior captain Mo Donovan, swam her best time ever in the 200 yard freestyle, coming in at 2:09.14. Each girl had their own race to swim and time after time we were seeing great swims that just weren’t quite enough to beat the former Sectional Champions.”

The Lady Bucs will be going after Westhill-Corcoran this Friday at home and that should shape up to be a closer meet. missing or outdated ad config
