Billy Decker, Chuck Hebing, Dan Williams & Chuck Powelczyk Grab Wins at Brewerton

The Mighty Modifieds, the DIRTcar Modifieds, doesn’t matter what name you name you know them as, cause there coming at you fast and tonight Chad Phelps and Jeremy Smith brought the gang to the green, Phelps would take the early advantage, until the caution flew on lap two as a car came to a stop high in turn one.
On the restart Phelps again had the point with Tom Sears on the outside, as the green waved Phelps again took control upfront, but he had company coming as Chuck Bower and Billy Decker were coming hard. At the completion of lap 8 Decker was the new leader with Phelps, Bower, Pat O’Brien and sears rounding out he top five.
When the green came back out Decker jumped on the gas, remaining out front and opening up a five car length advantage. Pat O’Brien took over the runner up spot, Chad Phelps sat third, Bower and Matt Sheppard rounded out the top five.. As the top three stayed in line protecting their position, Sheppard went to the high side and at lap 20 he slid in front of O’Brien for the second spot.
Kevin Bates worked his way into the top five and he quickly caught Sheppard. O’Brien and Chad Phelps continued to use the bottom as they fought for position Chad Phelps and Pat O’Brien fought for position. With five ticks left on the lap counter Jimmy Phelps brought his H&H Troyer into the top five and quickly moved into the runner up spot. Sheppard, O’Brien and Bates made up the top five.
The last caution of the evening flew with three laps remaining Decker and Jimmy Phelps were ready to do battle. Phelps made sure to stay close, but Sheppard went way high to let Phelps know he wanted a piece of the pie.
At the checkered it was Billy Decker grabbing win number four in 2008, Jimmy Phelps was second, Sheppard third, Pat O’Brien and Kevin Bates rounded out the top five.
Joe Gwilt sat on the pole and brought the ESDCA Mod Lites to the green, Gwilt would hold on up front for three circuits as the car broke exiting turn four and handing the led over to Dan Williams. On the restart Dan Williams had his brother Doug on his right shoulder, looking to do battle and find a way to win the war.
Dan Williams ran down on the low side, brother Doug ran up high, looking for a little something, but as he was looking Lowell Zehr got underneath to take over second. Dan continued to show the fast way around on the bottom, Zehr followed, but Doug Williams continued to use the top and in the corners it appeared that the 2007 defending track champion just might have something left. Tim Devendorf and Joe Garafolo rounded out the top five. On the restart Dan Williams remained out front with Zehr and brother Doug giving chase, but Dan Williams had mother luck on his side, as he grabbed his first win of the season.
The New York Modified Midgets took to a fast race surface with Modified ace Chad Homan leading the way from the point, but he had to deal with a hard charging Jim Lafler on the Homan rear bumper. When the green came back out Homan again took off, but a three car mishap brought the yellow out again, as Ethan Morgan and Kirsten Dombroski tangled and had to go away on the hook.
On the restart Homan maintained the point, but it was short lived as Chuck Hebig found the fast way around on the outside, Homan settled in for the runner up spot. Charlie Donk, Eric Rudolph and Jim Lafler rounded out the top five. Two circuits later Donk got shuffled back as Jim Lafler was on the move taking over the fourth position.
With five laps remaining Hebing was alone up front, Homan ran in the number two spot, Rudolph, Lafler and Donk had things spread out for the remainder of the top five. At the checkered Hebing held on for his first Brewerton Speedway victory of 2008.
Chad Dupra and Glen Erwin brought the 4 Cylinder Super Stock feature event to the green, with Erwin getting the early advantage. Dupra settled in for the runner up spot with Matt Wetterer battling in third. Chuck Powelczyk and Jessica Herbert rounded out the top five.
The caution flew at lap five for a simple spin, but before the hanky flew Powelczyk and Herbert each picked up three spots, as Chuck took over the top spot and Jessica ran second. On the restart Powelczyk pulled away with a three car length advantage over Herbert, but Herbert had a fight on her hands as Claude Hutchings and Bill Tice were looking to take over the runner up spot.
At the checkered Powelczyk picked up another win, with Claude Hutchings Jr grabbing second at the line, Jessica Herbert, Bill Tice and Matt Fay rounding out the top five.
