Branshaw Moves Up After Solid Second Round

Oswego native David Branshaw abandoned his even-steven game for a more up-and-down round at the Nationwide Tour Championship, and the results were far more up than down.

Branshaw followed his bogey-free first round of 70 with a 6-birdie, 2-bogey second round Friday.  The 67 pushed him up the leaderboard into a five-way tie for 13th place, at 5 under 137.

Branshaw’s fighting to get off the Nationwide Tour and back onto the PGA Tour.  He’s 27th on the Nationwide tour money list and needs to get back into the top 25 at the end of this event in order to get his PGA Tour card for next year.  He’s about $5,000 behind the player in 25th place.  A high finish in the event, with its million dollar purse, should help him move back up the money chart.

Branshaw opened the second round at TPC Craig Ranch in Texas with a bogen on a par 4 hole, but pulled himself back to even with a birdie on the next hole.  Only a bogey 5 on the 11th hole marred the rest of the round, which was highlighted by a birdie on the 171 yard par 2 17th hole.

He tees off for the third round at 11:31 a.m. in McKinney, Texas. missing or outdated ad config
