Buc Golfers Sharp In Season Opener

The Oswego Boy’s Golf Team began their 2008 season with a win at Greenview Golf Club over Central Square by a final count of 204-225 on Wednesday. With a team consisting of only 3 returning starters and much youth, it was hard to tell just how this group of young men would handle the pressures of match play. It didn’t seem to bother them on this day.

Returning starter and team captain Corey Schuffenecker captured overall and team medalist honors with a score of 3-over-par 39, a round that included a beautiful birdie at the par 4 ninth hole. Scott Quenville, also a returning starter, shot a nice round of 40on the tricky front 9 at Greenview. Matt Donovan, who was a member of the 2007 Buc team, had a good start to his season, matching Quenville’s score of 40.

Freshman Sam Lalonde had an excellent nine holes in his debut varsity match. His score of 40 included five pars. Sam looks to be a regular contributor this season.

Also playing (and scoring) in his first varsity match was junior Alex Bush who shot a 45. With all this young talent, it will be interesting to see how the rest of the season unfolds for the Bucs.

They will have a chance for another win on Thursday as they travel to the Links at Sunset Ridge to play Utica Proctor. missing or outdated ad config
