Buc Varsity Boys’ Lacrosse Keep Winning Streak Alive

OSWEGO, NY – Lacrosse is in full swing and very soon tennis, baseball and softball will be under way for Oswego High School athletes.

The Buc varsity boys’ lacrosse team moved to 3-0 on the year with a 10-5 win over visiting Watertown in less than ideal conditions on Friday night at the Turrill Street Field.

The Bucs got behind 2-1 after one quarter, but four in the second and a quartet of goals in the third put this game on ice.

Dom Cianfarano scored five goals for the second time this season while Matt Lloyd added three, Dan Maniccia and David Mathes one each.

Kyle Clark finished with two assists as did Cianfarano, while John Phillips, Josh Sova, Maniccia and Lloyd each had one.

In net, keeper Trent Yule finished with a dozen saves while at the other end of the field the Watertown goalie was credited with 24 saves.

Oswego will continue action this week with games at Liverpool (on Tuesday) and Fayetteville-Manlius (Thursday) at Wilber Field.

Lady Buc Lax Loss

The Oswego Lady Bucs lacrosse team started the new year against Watertown IHC and lost 14-6.

Coach Laura Burger said, “We got off to a slow start as Watertown was ready for its third game of the year and came right out at the whistle.”
IHC went up 8-0 in the first half, but Burger said, “We looked better in the second half as it was a 6-6 game, but we couldn’t catch up from the first half deficit.”

Scoring for Oswego were Taylor Giglio, Mackenzie Robinson, Erica Atkins, Mikayla Place, Becca Martin, and Alexa Healy with a goal each. Assists were picked up by Sam McCarrick, Libby Sherman and Giglio.

In net, Tayler Bowman had eight saves for the Bucs and Hayley Lukaczyk had nine for the 0-1 Bucs.

The Lady Bucs are in action again this week in hosting Liverpool  at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Wilber Field and traveling to FM on Thursday for a 4:30 p.m. contest. missing or outdated ad config
