Bucs’ Basketball Season Comes To An End

OSWEGO, NY – The Oswego High School varsity and jayvee basketball season has come to an end.

On Tuesday night, the varsity teams faced off against Corcoran and both the boys’ and girls’ lost.

The Buc boys hoped for a shot at post season play, but lost to the homestanding Cougars 72-46 while the injury plagued girls’ varsity team lost to Corcoran at Powers Gym on senior night 67-46.

In girls’ action, Alexis Gillard and Samantha “Sam” McCarrick were recognized prior to the game as both have now ended their OHS hoops career.

In a seesaw, up and down first quarter, the Bucs trailed 19-14, but Corcoran took advantage of the outmanned Bucs for a 32-22 halftime lead.

In the end Becca Martin scored a dozen points while Taylor Giglio, Courtney Louis, Kelsey Ross and Gillard all had seven points and Marisa Dashner scored six for the 6-12 Buccaneers.

At Corcoran, a second quarter 26-point explosion put the game out of reach as the Cougars led 37-22 at the intermission.

Ryan Patrick and Josh Gillard each had 13 points while Jake Metcalf had six, Corey Galletta had five, Michael Thompson four, Josh McRae three and Dustin Sands two for the Bucs as they finished the season with a  5-12 record.
