City of Fulton Softball League results for Tuesday, August 5

6:00 F (M-F) Polish Home won the battle for second place with an eight inning, 11-7 victory over Bellinger Auto.  The teams entered the night with identical records with the same teams meeting next week in the first round of the play-offs and home team being at stake.  Polish Home took the lead with three runs in the first while Bellinger Auto scored twice in the second.  Each team added runs in the third with the result being a 5-5 tie.  Polish Home scored twice in the fifth to re-establish the lead while Bellinger Auto pulled within one in the bottom of the fifth and knotted the score in the seventh.  Four runs in the top of the eight gave Polish Home the lead and the victory.  CJ Smith tripled, singled four times, scored four runs and drove in two RBIs for Polish Home, Josh Osborne lined three singles and delivered four RBIs as Derek Lyons reached base three times, scored thrice and knocked home a pair of RBIs.  Mike Livoti smacked four singles, scored twice and delivered three RBIs for Bellinger Auto, Jim Omundson singled four times to drive in two runs while Greg Distin doubled, singled, walked and scored twice.

7:00 F (M-F) Lakeview Lanes scored a 7-0 win over Consumer Credit Counseling of CNY/Abbott Enterprises.

6:00 D (M-F) Riverside Inn-Haney Enterprises clinched the Division Championship with a 13-8 defeat of Flemming & Lobevero Insurance.  A loss would have placed Riverside Inn- Haney Enterprises in a tie with the victor of the 6:00 Foster game.  The teams tied at eight after three innings with Riverside Inn-Haney Enterprises scoring the game winner in the fifth while adding four insurance runs in the sixth.  Mark Lamb tripled, singled twice, scored once and drove home three RBIs for Riverside Inn-Haney Enterprises, Jim Mieczkowski lined three singles, scored thrice and knocked in a run as Jim Wardaugh tripled, singled, scored twice and delivered three RBIs.  Chris Kelsey reached base four times, scored twice and knocked in a pair of RBIs for Flemming & Lobevero Insurance, Mark Canale belted a RBI triple, singled and scored twice while Pat Burd singled twice and scored twice.

7:00 D (M-E) Muskie’s/Kick-n-Chicken held off Tavern on the Lock, 15-12.  Seven runs in the first and four in the second helped give Muskie’s/Kick-n-Chicken an eleven run lead after four innings before Tavern on the Lock tallied ten runs in the final three innings to make things exciting!  Jim Ashby tripled, singled thrice, scored twice and drove in three for Muskie’s/Kick-n-Chicken, John Urban Jr. smacked a two-run double, two RBI singles, a sacrifice fly and scored once as Howard Johnson singled twice, walked, scored thrice and knocked in a run.  Jake Osborn doubled, singled twice, scored once and delivered five RBIs for Tavern on the Lock, Brian Frear stroked three singles, scored twice and knocked in a run as Tim Southworth singled twice, scored a run and drove home two RBIs.

8:00 D (M-E) Caster Well Drilling did the improbable in a rain-shortened game, defeating RFH’s Blues Boys, 1-0.  After playing each team twice, Caster Well Drilling’s record stood at 0-10.  But the team stunned many by defeating each team in the third meeting to end the season 5-10.  Caster Well Drilling scored a run in the third when Jamie Potocnak doubled, moved to third on Jared Caster’s base hit and scored the games lone run on Luke Caster’s sacrifice fly.  Jamie Potocnak singled scored for Caster Well Drilling, Jared Caster and Lewis Caster each singled as Luke Caster drove in the lone run.  Amazingly, Jimmy Files got the only single for normally dynamic RFH’s Blues Boys offense.

9:00 D (M-E) Muskie’s Brothers @ RFH’s Farm Team cancelled due to thunder storm.
