Demo Leads Buc Runners At Section III Meet

The Oswego boys’ cross country team season has come to an end as the Bucs finished eleventh in the Section III meet at Jamesville-DeWitt Beach Park.

Shane Demo led Oswego with a thirty-fifth while Mitch Galvin was fiftieth and pat Shafer sixty-second. Aaron Baxter was seventieth, Colin Morgan seventy-third and Zach McQuaid seventy-eighth.

Also running for the Bucs were Austin DeMott, Ken Krapf and Tres Bell.

Coach Dan Greene said, “The boys had to make up some places since our usual number one runner Brandon Auyer was injured and did not compete. They ran well considering the loss of Brandon. Shane and Mitch were able to improve their ranking in the section with the performance.”

DeMott and Baxter ran very wlel for their inaugural Section III Championship. Greene noted, “This is probably the best cross country in the state and they ran well considering the tough competition.”

Morgan, McQuaid and Bell also showed improvement from last year’s sectional event and will be relied upon for next year’s team.

Coach Greene said, “This marked the final race for our four seniors Brandon Auyer, Mitch Galvin, Ken Krapf and Patrick Shafer. We lost a lot of leadership and good runners. This is a big loss for us and they will be missed.”
