Fulton Boys Change Game At Halftime, Beat Homer In Soccer

Fulton’s varsity soccer team survived what the team’s coach called “a glorified kickball game” to beat Homer 3-2 Tuesday in Fulton.

Andrew Kush and Trevor Littler scored for the Raiders, now 1-1.

Brett Stokoe opened the scoring for Homer and the 1-0 lead stood until halftime. That’s when Fulton coach Dave Wilson said he delivered an “instructional halftime talk”. He said his team was kicking the ball around the field instead of passing to teammates.

“Second half, they started stringing some passes together,” he said, and the three goals gave Fulton a comfortable lead.

Stokoe scored again late in the game to pull Homer within a goal. “We fell asleep,” said Wilson.

“We’re capable of better,” he said. “We’re expecting better and we’re going to keep pushing them to get better.”

Fulton’s JV squad also won, beating Homer 2-0. For the second straight contest, JV defender Jake Sereno scored on a 50-yard free kick. missing or outdated ad config
