The Fulton YMCA Speed Demons won their first meet of the swim season recently against the Oneida Dolphins.
During the meet, several Fulton swimmers qualified to compete in the New York YMCA State meet to be held in March 2012. Swimmers qualify for states by bringing in times under the qualifying standard in individual events. Qualifiers included: Kyle Buck – 200-yard individual medley, which includes butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke and freestyle; Miwa Burdic – 50-yard freestyle; Justin Grower – 100-yard butterfly; Jenna Ruzekowicz – 50-yard breaststroke; Janelle Tallents – 100-yard butterfly; and Mark Tallents – 200-yard freestyle and 50-yard breaststroke.
This week’s swimmers of the week include Airyona Croci, Brad Crofoot, Mallory Curtis, EvaLynn Dickens, Andrew Distin, Grace Esposito, Griffin Marriner, Zach Perry, Jenna Ruzekowicz, Camille Stevenson, David Tallents, Janelle Tallents, Jacob Strauss, Sarah Tallents, Christina Thompson, Miwa Burdic, Kyle Buck, Justin Grower and Mark Tallents.
The Speed Demons’ next swim meet will be against Cortland at its home pool at Granby Elementary School in Fulton.
