Fulton’s varsity wrestlers cruised to the final of the Horseheads Invitational tournament, but fell by a single point in the final match to take a strong second place finish.
The Red Raider boys took their first eight matches by large margins, with only a 41-33 win over Warsaw at mid-tournament providing some competition.

They beat South Seneca, Campbell-Savnoa, Camden, Horseheads, Warsaw, Portville, Canisteo-Greenwood, and Wayland-Cohocton en route to the final match against Penfield for the tourney title.
There, Fulton fell 30-29, with the match and the tournament being decided in the final event.

Individual results are not available yet, but the tourney started Fulton’s season at 8-1 and marked a solid return for coach Mike Conners, back after sitting out the fall football season to help care for his son.
Fulton wrestles next in the three-way Waterloo Invitational on Saturday, along with Phoenix.
Wrestlers Derek Harris and Tony Torrese were named Wrestlers of the Week. Each went 7-1 in Horseheads.
