Hobart Men’s Hockey Defeats UW-Stevens Point, 6-3, At PathFinder Bank Classic

After trailing 2-1 at the end of the first period, the Hobart Statesmen responded with three second-period goals to hang on for a win over the University of Wisconsin at Stevens Point 6-3 in the first game of the PathFinder Bank/Oswego Hockey Classic Thursday afternoon in Oswego. Matthew Wallace of Hobart recorded two goals, including a short-handed goal late in the third period to give the Statesmen a two-goal lead. Hobart, which improved to 6-3-1 overall, will face the winner of Oswego State/Hamilton on Friday in Oswego, while the Pointers fell to 5-9-0 overall.

The Statesmen had five skaters with five multi-point games in addition to Wallace for a balanced scoring attack. UW-Stevens Point received goals from Nic Polaski, Jake Skojdt, and Donnie Hallmark. Special teams played a big role in the contest as Hobart went 2-for-8 with the extra skater and posted a short-handed goal and the Pointers went 1-for-6.
