Key Injury Undercuts Bucs In Volleyball Loss to C-NS; JV Wins

The Oswego boys’ varsity and JV teams were in action against Cicero-North Syracuse. The varsity fell 25-10, 25-14 and 25-23 while the jayvees earned their first win of the year 25-23, 25-13, 25-14.

In the varsity contest, Kevin O’Connor went down with an injury midway through the first game and it affected the Bucs. Coach Mike Shea said, “Kevin is the third guy in three days to sustain an ankle injury.”

Dave Abare finished with eight kills, Gary Carpentier nine kills, two digs, a block and two aces while Fred Johnson had a kill, and dig. Paul Kio had a dig. Kevin O’Connor had three assists and a dig.  Gino Ruggio had two kills, an assist, three digs and an ace while Ian Van Wert had two kills, 11 assists and an ace. Tom Ruggio and John Oleyourryk also played for the Bucs.

In jayvee action Oswego won 25-23, 25-13 and 25-14.

Rick Uribe played his first game and had double digit kills in the opening game. missing or outdated ad config
