On Saturday, at Union College, the Oswego High School girls’ varsity volleyball team headed into State Class A quarterfinal action against the Capital District power.

However, it was a short trip into post season play as the Bucs lost 3-0 to Burnt Hills as the winning team pushed its season record to 19-0.

Oswego had a solid season in capturing the league title and earning the Class A Section III Championship.

Oswego lost 25-13, 25-16 and 25-16 to finish the year with an 11-6 record.

Coach Ron Ahart noted, “We wanted to win, but we also wanted to represent our school and section in a solid effort and I feel we did that.”

The veteran coach said, “Burnt Hills has been to the tournament nine previous years. I think we were a bit intimidated.”

The Bucs had not played a competitive round of volleyball for nearly three weeks and Ahart felt the speed and timing were off slightly.

However, he stressed that Burnt Hills was a very good team.

For the Bucs Jasmine Davis had nine kills and five digs while Krisi Stemple had 21 assists and Lauren Naron three digs.

Cydney Ward had five kills and an ace, Cortnie Purce two kills, Kelsey Ross five kills and four digs, Mary Montagnola 10 digs and Maggie Mooney four digs. missing or outdated ad config
