Lake View of Fulton, NY qualified for the 2008 APA 8-Ball National Team Championships, conducted by the American Poolplayers Association (APA), through their top performance in the local team championship at Dodester’s in Syracuse, NY on 25 May 08.
They will be joining more than 600 other teams from throughout North America who will be traveling to Las Vegas to play at the Riviera Hotel & Casino, Aug. 18-23, to compete for a national title and a portion of the $500,000 guaranteed cash and prizes.
Lake View are members of the APA Pool League and participate in weekly league play at Lake View Lanes in Fulton. Team members include: Nick Vescio, Mike Tryniski, William Depaolo, Joe Murphy Sr, Joe Murphy Jr, Phil Howell, Dennis Rupert Jr, and Chad Rearick.
The APA, based in Lake Saint Louis, Mo., sanctions the world’s largest amateur pool league, known as the APA Pool League throughout the United States and as the Canadian Pool League in Canada.  More than 260,000 members compete in weekly 8-Ball and 9-Ball league play.  The APA is generally recognized as the Governing Body of Amateur Pool, having established the official rules, championships, formats and handicap systems for the sport of amateur billiards.
The APA produces three major tournaments each year-the APA National Team Championships, the APA National Singles Championships and the U.S. Amateur Championship-that, together, pay out nearly $1.5 Million in cash and prizes annually.
