More Good News From the OHS Sports Front

OSWEGO, NY – Oswego relay teams had a solid day for the Lady Bucs in the CNYCL championships while the bowling teams combined to sweep six points from Liverpool.

Relays Finish Strong

The Oswego girls’ indoor track team turned in a strong performance Thursday at the CNYCL Track and Field Championships.

With three relay team members earning personal best splits in their race, the Lady Bucs 4 x 800 meter relay of Tara Stacy, Mallory Gordon, Grace Gilbert, and Chloe Patterson ran in a season best time of 12:05.4, to finish third.

Oswego’s talented 4 x 200 meter relay of Vanessa Wiltsie, Marsaili Knapp, Grace Gilbert, and Maria Monte ran a season best time of 2:08.2, to place fourth among the league’s elite. All four relay team members earned personal best splits in the race.

Wiltsie also shattered her previous best in the 300 meter dash with a fast time of 50.40, to place fourth.

The Lady Bucs also finished fourth in 3000 meter run behind the strong efforts of Mallory Gordon and the long jump with Alexis Hanna leaping a personal best. Hanna also earned a best in the 55 meter dash.

Rapidly improving Chloe Patterson, clocked a best of 2:03.7 in the 600 meter run, to place fifth for the Lady Bucs.

Oswego earned 24 points to finish fourth place overall in the meet with the Lady Hornets of Fayetteville-Manlius capping the team title.

Oswego will return to action on Wednesday, traveling to the fast SRC Arena oval, for the Section Three Championships, scheduled to get underway at 4:30 p.m.

Bowlers Sweep Lanes

The Oswego bowling teams picked up six points in the match up with Liverpool on Thursday. In boys’ action the Bucs won 1,090-939, 1,043-815 and 1,101-860 while in girls’ action the Lady Bucs won 680-530, 715-587, 635-573.

Coach Bob Hoefer said, “Leading the way today was Joe Clavelli with a 678. The boys are bowling very well and keeping each other strong as a team. The boys are now 33-6. The girls were able to take three points today with Allie Hare leading the way with a 461. The girls are now 15-24.”

The Bucs were extremely balanced with Clavelli topping the chart with a 678 and games of  248-184-246. He was followed by Zach Delbrocco 649 (213-212-224), Kevin Goodale 637 (215-207-215), Jim Rose 635 (186-226-223) and Matt Clemons 635 (228-214-193).

Among the non-scoring members of the Bucs Gavin Gilbert had a 656 (215-162-279) and Dylan Kimball at 592 (210-168-214). Other Buc series included Mike Woolworth 544, Ethan Simmons 435 and Brandon Grant 372.

Hare had the team high for the girls’ with here 461 and games of 160-149-152 while Kaitlyn Grant had a 433 (150-154-129), Tori Gardner 420 (141-154-125), Meghan Flack 405 (135-157-113). Other single scoring games included  Alaina Gaultz with a 116, Aubrey Sanderson 116 and Caitlyn McRae 94.
