NHL Players Kevyn Adams, Joe Corvo and Andrew Hutchinson will visit Oswego in August for the 2008 Erik Cole Dream Big Foundation Golf & Hockey Classic.

Adams is a center with the Chicago Blackhawks, Corvo a defensemen with the Carolina Hurricanes, and Hutchinson, a defensemen with the New York Rangers.

The players are just a few of the many friends and former teammates of Erik Cole, who will make the trip this year to Cole’s hometown of Oswego for the 2008 Erik Cole Dream Big Foundation Golf & Hockey Classic slated for August 2-4th.

Organizing committee members are busy finalizing plans for this year’s events, which also now includes a two-day 3-on-3 Youth Hockey Classic at the Campus Center Ice Arena at SUNY Oswego on August 2nd and 3rd.

The annual 4-person captain-n-crew format golf classic will take place at the Oswego Country Club on August 4th.

According to Erik Cole Dream Big Foundation Golf & Hockey Classic Chairman Kevin Caraccioli, Cole will also be joined by Oswego-native TJ Fox, a forward with the AHL Worcester Sharks.

Fox started his hockey career in Oswego and later went on to play at Union college where he set school scoring records and was voted Most Valuable Player.

In his 2007-08 rookie year for Worcester, he scored 24 points and played in 71 of 81 games.

This year’s golf tournament, which is once again sponsored by Pathfinder Bank, will also include John Forslund, Carolina Hurricanes Play-by-Play Television Announcer who also works regularly for the NHL on Versus during the playoffs, as well as many regional members of the media, and other area celebrities.

“To be able to have these NHL players and celebrities at our event is quite exciting for the Foundation and this community,” said Caraccioli. “It is truly going to make this a great weekend.”

The Erik Cole Dream Big Foundation was established in 2007 by Oswego-native, NHL hockey player, Stanley Cup Champion, and U.S. Olympian Erik Cole. The non-profit organization was created to support youth hockey programs, as well as children who are suffering from cancer and other diseases.

“I really appreciate my friends and teammates coming out and supporting the Dream Big Foundation,” said Cole. “It means a lot to me and I know it will mean a lot for the kids who this Foundation will so greatly impact.”
According to Caraccioli, not only is the event drawing high profile players and celebrities, but also new sponsors this year including AT&T. They have agreed to sponsor this year’s dinner following the golf event. Other sponsors include Pathfinder Bank, Nike/Bauer (the Youth Hockey Classic sponsor); Oswego Sub Shop, who will provide lunch at the turn for the third straight year; and Burritt Motors, who will once again sponsor the hole-in-one contest. Additionally, the NHL, Erik’s former team, the Carolina Hurricanes, and his new team the Edmonton Oilers, have figured heavily in the event.
