Oswego, NY – Oswego County Opportunities, Inc. (OCO) is preparing for its 10th Annual Bowl-A-Fun on Saturday, April 2, 2011 at Lakeview Lanes in Fulton, according to Diane Cooper-Currier, Executive Director at OCO.
OCO is accepting registrations through March 25 for five-person teams. There is a choice of two flights: 1-3:15 pm or 3:30-5:45 pm; first come, first served so register early. Registration forms are available on OCO’s website, www.oco.org. If you need help with registration, please contact OCO at 598-4717. Cost is just $15 per bowler, or $75 per team. However, individual bowlers and teams are encouraged to raise additional money through pledges; there is a pledge form on the website. Prizes will be awarded for the two bowlers who bring in the most pledge money.
“Bowl-A-Fun is OCO’s major fundraiser, and all proceeds benefit OCO programs and services,” Cooper-Currier stated. “But even more than that, it’s our annual opportunity to increase awareness about our mission and the positive impacts on the people and the communities we serve. There will be displays and information on hand from our many programs and services, as well as staff-created video clips about making a difference.”
The 10th Anniversary Bowl-A-Fun event features a variety of exciting free activities, including a 45th Anniversary Birthday Bash for OCO. The Golden Opportunities Raffle Drawing winners also will be announced at the event.
“We encourage the community to consider registering a bowling team for the April event,” said Cooper-Currier. “We still have some openings and it’s going to be a wonderful birthday celebration for OCO, a great fundraiser, and just lots of fun for everyone.”
According to Cooper-Currier, the community is invited even if they’re not bowling, and she encourages families and friends to stop in anytime between 1 and 6 pm and enjoy the following:
¨ Cheer for your favorite bowlers
¨ Live music
¨ Check out the activities for kids
¨ Enter to win the 50/50 raffle and gift basket auctions
¨ Have some cake and punch to celebrate OCO’s 45th anniversary
¨ Take an OCO bus tour around the community to see some of the agency’s many program locations
¨ Be there when the Golden Opportunities raffle winners are announced at 5:30 pm
The event committee will present some fun trophies for the highest scoring teams in each flight, as well as the high individual scores for women and men on each flight. New this year will be a “Team Spirit” award for the best theme at each flight.
