OHS Sports Results: Tracz Brothers Lead Bucs To Links Sweep

OSWEGO, NY – The 2010-2011 Oswego High boys’ golf season opened this week as the top six qualifying golfers took to the front nine at Oswego Country Club to do battle with Cicero-North Syracuse and Central Square in the rarely contested tri-match.

The wind made playing conditions difficult, but the course was a breeze for brothers Austin and Brandon Tracz on this day.

Freshman Brandon Tracz fired his career low competitive round shooting 37 on the tricky front nine at OCC.

Brandon’s round included birdies on holes 2 and 6. This is Brandon’s second year as a varsity player – he made the team as an eighth grader last season.

Brother Austin Tracz meanwhile pieced together an impressive round of 38 in the wind, hitting seven out of nine greens in regulation.

He was a bit disappointed to find out that his younger brother had bested him by a stroke, but hopefully, for the team’s sake, these two will be fighting it out all year.

Also contributing in Thursday’s opening match was eighth grader Alec Kunzwiler (44), senior Colin Joyce (44), senior Matt Lloyd (46).

Sophomore Luke Boshart shot 49 in his first varsity match.

Oswego’s total of 209 was 17 strokes better than Central Square, and 31 strokes better than C-NS.

Oswego’s record is now 2-0 for the season.

Also making the Oswego High School Team this year was sophomore Jake Anderson, junior Brien Gorman, senior Matt Krocke, junior Sam Lalonde, sophomore Dylan Morgia and junior John Phillips.

Oswego will travel to Drumlins Country Club in Syracuse for the Drumlins Invitational on Monday, followed quickly by the team’s first away match on Tuesday versus Corcoran and a strong Auburn squad.
