OHS Sports Team Have Tough Time

OSWEGO, NY – The bowling team, boys’ hockey and girls’ basketball teams were all in action on Tuesday.

Bowlers Lose Tough One

In bowling action the Oswego High School boys’ lost 2-1 to Auburn while the girls lost three straight to the Auburn Maroons.

The boys’ started out losing 1,115-948 before rallying for a 1,024-916 verdict only to lost the last game by 50 pins (1,071-1,021).

Cameron Byrne had a 650 series and was followed by Gavin Gilbert (637), Matt Clemons (629) and Zack Delbrocco (624).  Kevin Goodale had a two game total of 322 and Jimmy Rose a one game score of 131.

In girls’ action the Lady Bucs lost 862-675, 876-687 and 843-691.

Rolling for Oswego were Ashlee Lytle, Paige Blum, Christie Hoefer, Courtney Bartlett, Allison Martin and Brittney Noyse.

The boys are now 8-4 in league action and 14-13 overall. The girls are 2-7 in league play and 4-23 overall.

Hockey Team Battles

Oswego squared off against the number one team in New York State in a Division II match up at the Morrisville Iceplex on Tuesday night.

The Bucs saw their winning streak come to an end after a tough battle.

Oswego lost eventually 7-3, but it was a one goal game with less than half the period remaining.

Cazenovia came out strong with a 3-0 lead after the first period.

However, Coach Andy Rozak said, “We came out and played a very good second period and scored three unanswered goals to tie it up at 3-3.

Rozak noted, “Cazenovia scored their goals in bunches in the third as they scored the first two in a span of 26 seconds with about six minutes left, the second being a shorthanded goal and the final two goals of the game came 25 seconds apart with about three minutes left. The shorthanded goal that made it 5-3 really hurt us.”

Oswego’s goals were scored by Fred Donabella with two and Chris Pike (also an assist). Austin Tracz had an assist.

In the net Chase Izyk stopped 35 Caz shots.

Lady Buc Varsity Five Wins

The Lady Bucs moved to 5-6 on the season with a convincing 45-29 non-league win over visiting Watertown on Tuesday night.

Oswego carried the play most of the game and jumped out to a 16-9 lead in the first quarter and a 26-15 advantage at halftime.

Lexi Gillard had an 18 point night while Courtney Louis had 13, Becca Martin six, Erica Atkins four, Taylor Giglio and Emily Barlow two each for the victorious Bucs.

Jayvees Dominate

The Oswego Lady Bucs jayvee basketball team dominated Watertown.

After building up a 33-5 halftime lead the Bucs eventually won 64-17.

Oswego came out quickly with a tenacious defense sparked by the leadership of Maddy Muckey, Courtney Kelly and Kerrigan Cummins.

It was a true team effort as every player played a role in the victory.
