OHS Sports Teams Stay Active

OSWEGO, NY – The bowling team rolled to victory while the varsity basketball teams battled Liverpool and the jayvee girls’ basketball squad chalked up its fifth win of the year. Meanwhile, the girls’ hockey team lost.

Bowlers Gain Victory

The Oswego boys’ bowling team swept Fayetteville-Manlius as the Bucs won the first game 1,000-998. In the second game the Bucs hit for 1,105 and FM 946 while in the third it was a 1,101-937 verdict.

For the girls’ team the Bucs won the middle game 675-656 while losing a tight 697-691 game and the final falling 737-713.

Gavin Gilbert had a 691, Matt Clemons 672, Jimmy Rose 667, Cameron Byrne 655 and Zack DelBrocco 521.

For the Lady Bucs Christie Hoefer finished with a 561 followed by Paige Blum (474), Ashlee Lytle (456) and Alison Martin (288).

Bucs Lose to Warriors

The Oswego-Liverpool boys’ varsity basketball game was a thriller until the visiting Warriors exploded for a 14 point final quarter for an eventually 59-47 win.

Oswego played well throughout the majority of the game, but the scoring drought in the final quarter saw just five points go up on the board.

The teams fought to a 12-12 tie in the first quarter, but in the second Liverpool gained some breathing room with a 17-8 advantage and a halftime score of 29-20.

Oswego came right back with a 22 point offensive push in the third quarter as the period ended with Liverpool leading 45-42.

Josh Gillard had a dozen points as did Jake Metcalf, Dustin Sands eight, Ryan Patrick five, and Michael Thompson four while Corey Galletta, Kevin Carpentier and Josh McRae scored two each.

Oswego varsity girls’ basketball players fell behind 17-6 in the first quarter against Liverpool and never recovered in losing a 58-41 verdict.

The Bucs played relatively even with the opposition through the second and third quarter as the team was outscored by a narrow 22-19 margin.

In the final stats Taylor Giglio had 10 points while Becca Martin scored seven, Courtney Louis six, Kelsey Ross five, Erica Atkins and Alexis Gillard four each, Samantha McCarrick three points and Emily Barlow two points.

Lady Buc Icers Fall

Ithaca scored a 4-1 win over the Lady Buc hockey team on Tuesday night at Crisafulli Rink.

Oswego managed just a dozen shots on goal and only Kaitlyn Friel was able to put the puck in the net while Devyn Hutcheson and Sage Dudley assisted.

Madison Whalen had 20 saves for the Bucs.

Jayvee Cage Win

The Oswego jayvee girls’ basketball team won its fifth game of the year with a 37-34 win over Liverpool on Tuesday night.

The game was evenly matched in the first quarter with the scored deadlocked at 10-10.  Reilly Patrick scored nine points in the second quarter to put Oswego ahead 24-15 going into the intermission.

With sloppy passes and turnovers Liverpool was able to mount a comeback. Liverpool tied the score, but the Bucs made some late free throws to eventually lead to the three-point win.
