Oswego Girls Tennis Team Falls To West Genny

Coach Andrea DeSantis called it “a definitive defeat”.  West Genesee beat Oswego’s girls varsity tennis team 6-1 on Thursday.

Lady Buc Jesse Lalande, at first singles, brought home the only win, 6-4, 6-1.  DeSantis called Lalande the day’s, “shining star. She was determined and played a stellar match.”

Dominique Canale fell at second singles, 1-6, 6-7 (4-7 in the tiebreaking game).  Lauren Usherwood dropped her third singles match, 3-6, 6-7 (3-7 in the tiebreaking game).

At doubles, said DeSantis, “the real nail bitter was at second doubles with Chandler Caroccio and Lindsay Rose taking the first set. The second doubles team from West Genessee turned it around and started to return serves deep and dominate the net for the last two sets to take the match.”  Caroccio and Rose lost 7-5, 3-6, 2-6.

First doubles team Jillian Doty and Marissa Canale fell 2-6, 2-6.  At third doubles, Mariah LaLonde and Chelsea Geroux lost 1-6, 2-6.  Fourth doubles team Brennan Banta and Alison Knight fell 2-6, 2-6.

“I am very proud of the whole team for playing hard and supporting each other,” said DeSantis.
