Oswego Seeks To Dunk Wizards

OSWEGO, NY – The world-renowned Harlem Wizards basketball team (with its trick shots, slam dunks and on-court antics, mixed with some serious basketball) are returning to Oswego to face their most formidable opponent ever – the OHS Bands “Buccaneer All Stars!”

This is the second meeting between these two teams.

The first was a thriller, with the Wizards squeaking out a victory over the scrappy “All Stars.”

This year’s courageous combination of teachers, administrators, parents and community members will avenge that first loss on Nov. 20 at 7 p.m. in the Leighton School gym.

Scheduled to play this year are some new faces including Bill Crist, acting superintendent of schools; as well as returning favorites Bill Palange and Steve Defren from Oswego High School; Ted Beers from Leighton School; Marching Band staff members Mike Tierney, Paul McPherson, Brian Walls, Heather Linch (Minetto School), Dan Cunnigham (OHS), Bonnie Finnerty (OMS principal), Scott Sugar (OCSD Athletic Director), Randy Bateman (Oswego Mayor), Shane Broadwell (EconoLodge), Tom Norton (Midstate Music), Steve Kieper (Raby’s Ace Home Center); and more.

Pre-sale tickets are $8 for students (K-12) and $10 for adults.

Day of the game tickets will be $10 for students (K-12) and $12 for adults.

Tickets are available at Paul’s Big M, Bosco and Geers, Raby’s Ace Home Center, Oswego schools, and new this year – on-line at www.harlmlewizards.com (click Events Schedule).
