Oswego State Men’s Lacrosse Loses To 16th-Ranked St. Lawrence 19-3

CANTON, N.Y. – The difficult non-conference schedule did not get any easier for the Oswego State men’s lacrosse team as the squad fell to 16th-ranked St. Lawrence 19-3 in Canton, N.Y. on Wednesday afternoon. The Saints opened the game on a 12-0 run over the course of the first 25 minutes, and never looked back as 12 different players recorded goals. Brett Sarubbi (So., East Greenbush, N.Y.), Adam Jean (Fr., Tully, N.Y.), and Dan Scarazzo (Sr., Fairport, N.Y.) registered the Laker goals.

Oswego State dropped to 1-4 overall with the loss and will face 18th-ranked St. John Fisher on Saturday at 1 p.m. in Oswego. St. Lawrence improved to 3-1 overall.

The Saints established the tone early when Scott Smith scored the first of his two goals in the game 1:46 into the contest. It would be the first of eight St. Lawrence goals posted in the first period. The Saint offense continued to click in the second period with four more goals being added to the scoreboard until Laker Brett Sarubbi received a pass from Pat Decker (Jr., Spencerport, N.Y.) for his first goal of the season. St. Lawrence went on to take a 13-1 advantage into halftime.

The Saints tacked on six more goals in the final 30 minutes, while Oswego State’s Adam Jean and Dan Scarazzo notched a goal in each of the remaining periods. St. Lawrence owned a 52-19 shot advantage over the Lakers as Oswego State goalie Judd Robinson (Sr., Guilderland, N.Y.) posted 10 saves in 45 minutes and Zach Harris (Sr., Fairport, N.Y.) made three saves in the final 15 minutes. The Saints’ Andrew Cochran and Jack Nuland combined to stop eight shots.
