Oswego State men’s basketball team ends season with a loss

Brockport, N.Y. – The Oswego State men’s basketball team took a 77-56 loss at No. 1-seeded Brockport in the SUNYAC Championship semifinal on Friday night in Vlogianitis Gym.

With the loss, No. 4-seeded Oswego finishes the 2013-14 campaign with a 17-10 overall record while Brockport improve to 23-3 on the year.

The Golden Eagles will host No.3-seeded Plattsburgh at 4 p.m. on Saturday for the SUNYAC Championship.

Brockport jumped out to a 16-4 lead to start the game and never looked back, leading throughout the contest.

Rashawn Powell had the best game for the Lakers, recording a double-double with a team-high 17 points and a game-high 12 points.

Oswego’s second leading scorer was senior Daniel Ross, finishing with 11 points while filling the stat sheet with two steals, an assist and a block.

Rounding out the double-figure scorers was Walter Sampson, closing with 10 points including a 6-for-6 mark from the charity stripe.

As a team, the Lakers shot well from the free-throw line, going 20-for-23 (87.0%). Oswego struggled from the field, however, going 17-for-60 (28.3%). The Golden Eagles shot 61.5% (16-for-26) from the line and 45.2% (28-for-62) from the floor.
