Oswego State Men’s Soccer Defeated By Nazareth 4-0

Nazareth scored four unanswered second-half goals as the Oswego State men’s soccer team lost 4-0 on the road on Saturday. The Lakers, who have struggled to put points on the scoreboard this season, dropped to 0-4.

The physical contest made it difficult for any team to fall into an offensive rhythm as the squads were whistled for a combined 17 fouls in the first half. Oswego held a 2-1 advantage in shots on goal for the period, but the score remained knotted at 0-0 at halftime.

The physicality carried over to the second half, but each team started moving up and down the field trying to create scoring opportunities. Nazareth struck the first blow in the 56th minute when Andrew Alaimo scored shortly after a corner kick. Six minutes later, Chris Eccles tallied an unassisted goal to put Nazareth ahead 2-0. The lead grew to 3-0 in the 63rd minute after a Rikesh Kotak penalty kick. Nazareth’s fourth goal came at the 86:17 mark from Rob Faulds.

Oswego State outshot Nazareth 13-12, but only three of those shots found their way to the goalkeeper. Matt Wopperer (Jr., Manilus, N.Y.) suffered the loss as he made three saves and allowed four goals.
