OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State women’s tennis team (3-12) nearly erased a 2-1 deficit heading into singles play, but was unable to complete the comeback in a 5-4 loss to Elmira (5-5) on Tuesday.
Hannah Rawlings (So., Ithaca, N.Y.) and Lauren Stall (So., Williamsville, N.Y.) fought for a 9-7 win over Micah Moskoff and Ellen Plowman at No. 2 doubles to give the Lakers their lone doubles point.
The bottom half of the Oswego State lineup came through in singles play, as the Lakers picked up wins at the fourth, fifth, and sixth spots. Kelly Corwin (Sr., Rochester, N.Y.) posted her fifth straight win at No. 4 singles by the score of 6-1, 6-3. Haley Miller (So., Springwater, N.Y.) added another victory at the fifth spot by defeating Moskoff, 6-3, 6-0. At No. 6 singles, Paige Edgar (Fr., New Hamburg, N.Y.) knocked off Megan Boisclair, 6-1, 6-4.
Tuesday’s match was the final contest of the traditional season for the team, which returns to action at home against Alfred on April 10.
