Billy Pauch from Frenchtown, New Jersey will be returning this week to the Fulton Speedway this Saturday October 4 trying to pick up his seventh- Schneider Brothers 200 Championship Trophy.
Pauch made history winning the first five 200s (1986-1990) then again in 1997. It’s been a few years for various reasons why Pauch hasn’t returned to the 3/8th mile oval to show case his high-flying talents that made him legions of fans across the Northeast eagerly hoping one day he would return to this race.
Pauch will be coming loaded for bear driving the potent Will Brown owned, Will Brown Truck Repair, K&A Excavating, Holly Hill Farms, Blue Hen Speed and Performance, No.1w, Bicknell.
“In the years Billy has been driving for me we have always talked about coming up there to run the 200. It always seemed we didn’t have motors or bad luck with motors late in the year that prevented us from coming,” Brown said from his Maryland base of operations. “This year everything worked out and we’re coming.”
Brown related the laid back owner, driver, friendship he and Pauch have. “We were just in the shop washing the car one day and I asked him if he wanted to go up to Fulton for the race? Billy thought about it for a second and said sure. And that was it, we have a funny friendship that way.”
Don’t look for Pauch to head north and have an easy time brining back the $25,000 to New Jersey and Maryland. Pauch will have a host of hot shoes to contend with. Track regular and four time winner of the Schneider Brothers 200 Alan Johnson in the Spra-King No.1j has to be the hottest driver on dirt right now, winning as recently as this past Saturday nights ‘BPG National 200’ at Rolling Wheels Raceway in Elbridge, NY. Billy Decker in the Gypsum Wholesalers, No.91 who has 10-wins this season on the Advance Auto Parts Super DIRT Series is no stranger to the Fulton Speedway. Dale Planck in the Grow-It, No.77x is a former Track Champion and former winner of the Schneider Brothers 200. Brett Hearn in the Wentworth Construction No.20 who has come close many times but still looking for his first 200 Victory. Never count out this years Modified Track Champion Tommy Sears Jr. who always seems to be in the hunt when he hits the speedway. Many other top notch talent from the Speedway and throughout the Northeast and Canada will be looking for the $25,000 pay day.
Brown finished up when asked what he thought about Pauch chances? “We aren’t towing the car up there for 8 hours not expecting to win, we want to win every race we enter.”
