

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) announced today that SUNY Cobleskill freshman goalkeeper Jody Pendergast, Phoenix, N.Y., Phoenix High School, has been named the NEAC Women’s Soccer Defensive Student-Athlete-of- the-Week for the period ending Sunday, September 18th, 2011. The Phoenix, N.Y. native becomes the first Fighting Tiger women’s soccer player in program history to win a NEAC Women’s Soccer Defensive Student-Athlete-of- the-Week Award.
The freshman goalie notched a pair of shutouts during the week as the Fighting Tigers posted a record of 1-1-1 on the week defeating visiting Southern Vermont College on Wednesday 3-0 in non-league action before tying at home versus Cazenovia College on Saturday 0-0 in double overtime in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) play. Pendergast made 26 saves on the week allowing 1.01 goals per game. Currently the Phoenix, N.Y. native has posted a 2-3-1 overall record allowing 1.28 goals per contest while amassing 44 saves on the campaign.
Cobleskill will next be n action on Thursday September 22nd when they travel to Morrisville State College in Morrisville, N.Y. for an NEAC game beginning at 6:00 p.m.
