Oswego, NY – The field of participants for the upcoming Tri-Oswego 2012 Triathlon is filling up quickly and will continue until June 8th, according to Shane Broadwell, Tri-Oswego 2012 Triathlon Race Director.
“The rate at which participants are registering for this year’s race is outstanding,” said Broadwell. “We’re seeing a lot of registrants that participated in the Tri-Oswego 2011 event, as well as a number of first-time Tri-Oswego racers.”
The event will take place on Saturday, June 16th in Oswego, New York.
According to Broadwell, the athletes are registering from all over the United States and Canada, and the Tri-Oswego committee anticipates this year’s field will eclipse last year’s total of 257 participants.
“Last year the event was up against graduation weekend, but with our new June 16th date, and with all of the activities taking place on one day, we expect our athlete attendance to grow from 2011,” Broadwell said.
The USA Triathlon sanctioned event will include a Sprint Tri, Intermediate Tri, and Sprint Relay Tri race once again this year, and will also include a variety of other activities including the Oswego Health and Wellness Expo, Novelis Kids’ Fun Run, Michelob Ultra Food and Beverage area, Youth Bicycle Rodeo, Zumba and Yoga for kids, Race Banner making, Inflatable Bounce Houses, music, and more.

Tri-Oswego participants that register early will have an opportunity to save on their entry. Registration fees for the Sprint Distance are $90.00 until April 30, 2012 and $100.00 from May 1, 2012 – June 8, 2012. Registration fees for the Intermediate Distance are $105.00 until April 30, 2012 and $115.00 from May 1, 2012 – June 8, 2012. Registration fees for the Sprint Distance Relay are $210.00 until April 30, 2012 and $240.00 from May 1, 2012 – June 8, 2012.
Proof of USA Triathlon membership is required at registration. If you are not an annual USA Triathlon member, you must purchase a one-day membership. The cost is $5.00 for 17 and under and $10.00 for 18 and older.
