Reuter, Dean Named Oswego State Student-Athletes Of The Week

Oswego State has named men’s basketball player Kyle Reuter (Central Square/Mexico) and women’s swimmer Nicole Dean (Lansing) as the college’s Student-Athletes of the Week for the week ending Nov. 23.

Dean, a sophomore helped the Oswego State women swim team remain undefeated capturing three events in the Lakers 163-117 dual meet victory at SUNY Brockport.   Dean set a pool and school record in capturing the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 1:56.92, surpassing the old school record of 1:57.33. Dean also won the 500-yard freestyle (5:17.37). She swam exhibition in the 200-yard individual medley, but posted the best time of all competitors for the event (2:18.65).

The Laker women are currently 6-0 in dual meet competition and will be idle until after Thanksgiving when they will compete at the Fredonia Invitational, Dec 5-7.

Dean is a zoology major and the daughter of Patti Dean of Lansing.

Reuter averaged 22 points per game over the weekend in the SUNY Old Westbury Panther Classic on his way to being named the tournament most valuable player.  In the championship game, Reuter scored 30 points on 10 for 18 shooting from the field, including six of nine from three point range as the Lakers defeated Brooklyn College 89-62.  Earlier in the week, Reuter became just the 13th player in program history to surpass 1000 points, as the senior co-captain scored 22 points in Oswego’s 104-79 win over visiting Cazenovia College.

The Lakers are 4-0 on the year and will be idle until Dec. 2, when they travel to Geneseo to open the SUNY Athletic Conference portion of their schedule.
