Rudy’s Battles CNY Teams in Recent Mite B Action

Oswego, NY – The Rudy’s Mite B Team split a pair of games in recent action against Camillus and Geneva, followed by victories over Whitestown and Lysander.

The Rudy’s squad faced a tough Camillus squad at the Crisafulli Ice Rink in Oswego losing 4-2.  Aiden Caroccio netted the first goal giving the team an early 1-0 lead.  The Camillus team battled back with three unanswered goals to end the first period.  Caroccio scored again in the second with an assist from Jeremy Susino, which was quickly answered by another Camillus goal to secure the win.  Tommy Back had 4 saves in the loss.

The following day at the Cullinan Ice Rink in Oswego, the Rudy’s team came out playing hard from the start and won 8-1 over visiting Geneva.

According to Rudy’s Head Coach Todd Donahue, the team was led by a balanced scoring attack that included: Tyler O’Grady 2 goals, Abby Yurkon 1 goal, Jeremy Susino 1 goal, Bryson Bush 1 goal, Danny Donahue 1 goal, Spencer Stepien 1 goal, Tommy Back 1 goal and 1 assist, Marcus Baker 1 assist, Aiden Caroccio 1 assist and Erica Greene 1 assist.

“Our kids came out and played really hard against Geneva after a tough loss the previous day,” said Coach Donahue. “They kept the action almost entirely in the opponent’s end and stayed aggressive throughout the game.”

The following weekend the Rudy’s squad won big again with an 8-1 victory in Whitestown. An aggressive offense was key to this win with Tyler O’Grady leading the team in points with 2 goals and an assist.  Spencer Stepien and Danny Donahue also had two goals each.  Others contributing to the offensive play was Jeremy Susino with a goal and 2 assists, Tommy Back with 1 goal and 2 assists, and Erica Green, Bryson Bush, and Ashley St. John each with an assist.

The following day Rudy’s battled it out, coming from behind to take the win over Lysander 3-1.

Aiden Caroccio scored the first two goals, assisted by Ashley St. John and Erica Greene.  Tyler O’Grady secured the win with another goal, assisted by Aiden Caroccio. Hunter Lawton had 17 saves in the win.

“I am proud of our team,” said Donahue. “They battled a strong Lysander team, played great on defense led by C. J. Watts, Cole Cullinan, Spencer Stepien, Bryson Bush and Abby Yurkon, and stayed aggressive on offense to come from behind for the win.”
